Red Is for Spanish, Blue Is for English, Organization Rocks!
Funded Nov 30, 2022My students were so excited to receive their book baggies. My students have gotten better at organizing their Spanish and English books. Students are no longer constantly asking me if their books are in English or in Spanish. They look at the color of the bag and automatically know what language the books are in.
As my students continue to grow as readers, they require books with more pages. With these new book baggies, my students can fit even more books that cater to their individual needs. Every now and then a student wants to take one of the bigger books, such as a read aloud book. Before we had these baggies we would use ziplock bags which frequently needed to be replaced. Now with these baggies students can not only take their level books home but also books that interest them more. My students are very grateful for these baggies and have been taking care of them.”

Funded Sep 24, 2022My students have been learning to enjoy reading. At the beginning, many did not want to read. We are learning that we don't have to be sitting at a desk to read. My students have been finding cozy spots in the classroom to read.
Currently my students are using cushions to find spots on the floor, or looking for little nooks and cozying up with a plushy and a good book. Some students are doing mini read alouds with the help of the cushions. The seatsacks are so students can keep their books close by and don't waste time having to get them out of a bin or their backpacks.
I have one particular student who explicitly told me he does not like to read. Ever since introducing the cushions I have seen his attitude towards reading change for the better.”
