This year we are continuing a school store that uses a token economy system where students can earn items at the store. This store will be implemented through Positive Behavior Supports and Interventions (PBIS). PBIS is an evidence-based approach to school behavior management that focuses on problem-solving from a systems perspective. Schools that have implemented PBIS have found a decrease in problematic behaviors, an increase in academic performance, and an enhanced feeling of safety in school. PBIS teaches and shapes student behavior by using motivation and positively reinforcing those good behaviors. The mission of McGlone Academy is to ensures we achieve our vision for all students and the Montbello community by providing rigorous and supportive educational experience to students from ECE through 8th grade. We achieve this vision by setting ambitious goals and prioritizing resources to meet the needs of every student. Our students will earn tokens to be used at the school store by showing one of our core values of honesty, wonder, empathy, respect, and perseverance. Any donation would be appreciated. We have chosen a variety of items for our school store that students will choose from. Items range from school supplies such as fun pens, pencils, notebooks, and backpacks to soccer balls, volley balls, art supplies, headphones, snacks and stress balls. Each item will be worth a certain about of "Lobos Bucks." Students will earn Lobos Bucks by demonstrating McGlone core values. We are a public school so your donation of goods to our school is greatly valued. We are looking forward to making a lasting partnership with you and hope you will consider this opportunity to support students in the Montbello neighborhood.
