At a Title I school, the concept of "new" is something my students don't experience very often. With old furniture, books, school supplies, and outdated technology, it is hard to create a welcoming environment for my students. Especially after this pandemic, I want to give my students something to be excited about and look forward to. I think my students would greatly benefit from an Apple iPad and Apple Pencil. There are many great apps which I would definitely use in my classroom with the iPad. Last year our school set up an amazing iPad training workshop for all of the special education teachers at our school. In the workshop they showed us how to effectively use iPads to benefit our special education students through the visual, touch, and auditory features it provides. Flexible seating in classrooms has become increasingly popular in the past few years. There have been noted benefits of flexible seating including giving students more choice in their learning, added comfortability, and a clean, safe space to collaborate with one and another. My students love to communicate and work together on classwork and projects, as well as spend time together. Since this was something they were not able to do for almost a year, I want to be able to give them the space to do so. I would love to have a large work table and an ottoman to brighten our learning space, as well as give my students a space to collaborate and work together non-traditionally.
