With these materails I feel as if I am giving my students the opportunity to create their own solutions and help them to gain confidence in school. Teaching students to keep trying even after a failure is teaching them to have Grit, and stay motivated even when things get tough. Students need to know they are capable even if they do not succeed as quickly as their peers. All students should be given the opportunity to create something on their own! If I am able to provide students with Real-World STEM Challenges kit, I can also show the students that they are truly able to solve problems being faced in their own lives. I want to create “mirrors” for my students, meaning the students can see themselves actually fixing a problem that they come across no matter what! If I can provide my students with the Botley Coding Robot, I will be able to show the students how interesting and important coding can be in each persons life. We need to motivate students to learn and discover a passion with this type of project to help fill career gaps that we are currently facing. I also want to show students, especially girls with different cultural backgrounds, that they can also makes this their career! With these new additions to my classroom, my students will be able to use creative learning in the classroom to show me their personal areas of expertise!
