The materials and supplies requested are desperately needed to help provide young learners the opportunities to learn and grow while exposing them to enriched language based activities. Therapy materials are vital for implementing and achieving communication goals. Unfortunately, the school district is not a position to provide funding for materials due to their current budget crisis and has not provided any type of funding to speech therapists for the past 10 years. It would be great to finally have new therapy materials to address a variety of communication deficits while motivating our students to try their very best. The sounds books, pop-up toys, musical instruments, and sound puzzles are all multi-sensory items that can be used to stimulate language production, cognition, and fine motor skills through play therapy. Games such as Pop the Pig, Connect Four, Zingo, A Snail's Pace, etc. all provide fun filled activities for our school-aged students to work on basic concepts, following directions, and overall receptive and expressive language skills language skills. We are also requesting a few different types ESL products to aid in immersing ESL students into an English learning environment in order to basic foundation of learning, establish routines, and enable them to get their basic wants/needs met. Enrollment of ESL students at our school has greatly increased in the past few years. As a speech therapist, I have no materials to help address communication needs of these students.
