Students are like sponges, absorbing all the information that they can on a daily basis. By providing books in print and electronic format, I can help ensure that my students leave reading on, or above grade level, at the end of the year. My goal is to close the gap that gets created year after year with students that are socioeconomically disadvantaged. Bringing more books into the classroom opens more opportunities for reading during the day. Bringing more books into the classroom opens more opportunities for reading during the day. Having an iPod, with a wireless speaker, will allow us access to online audiobooks when print copies are not available. Much of our community lost everything during Hurricane Harvey. A year later, we are rebuilding an even stronger community. Basic necessities are the priority, putting books and technology at the bottom of the list. I would like to be able to provide some of that in my classroom.
