In my HUGE school, our students come from various backgrounds with a variety of different needs. This year, I am striving to educate the whole child through using our new Second Step Curriculum paired with ESL small group instruction that will help students not only improve their English proficiency, but also improve their social emotional skills to help cope with their personal struggles. A rug will help create a safe space for students to share out and express themselves as we work through the curriculum together . As a teacher, I hope that this rug will help create this safe space, and that the students will come to it and know that they belong here in my classroom, belong in this school, belong in this country, and that they DO matter!

About my class
