  • Learning to Love Science

    Funded Dec 26, 2024

Words cannot describe the impact your donation has had and will continue to have on my students. We were able to build balloon powered cars and test them to go along with our units on energy and motion. It was a sight to see them talk about things like aerodynamics and wind effects; and work together to build, name and race these cars.

We're just wrapping up on unit on Cells and DNA and will complete the crime scene kit. We have portable microscopes, and the kids love seeing that microscopes give you a deeper look at items. Now they will be able to connect their cells and DNA to how crime scene DNA is collected and tested.”

  • LEGO Travel the World

    Funded Dec 1, 2024

This project was so much fun!

We had our intro session into building where I bought snacks from around the world, and we started to build structures from similar areas like Europe and Asia.

The students really love following directions and getting to build the base and then adding final touches to literal pieces of art that visualize some f earth's greatest landmarks.

These are now permanent fixtures in my classroom and perfect points of discussion and inspiration for others to learn to love the world of Legos.

We look forward to building more and more as Lego seems to be making more geographical features and even more items they learn about at school and wish to build in subjects like art, music, science, and TV production.”

  • Holiday Wish List: Book Club Style

    Funded Nov 5, 2024

It is very rare to see kids so happy to receive books as a gift. This project was designed to merge the holidays and the tradition of gift giving with my club's love for reading. Students logged into commonsense.org and looked for age-appropriate books that interested them. They compiled a top 10 Wishlist and from there my Santa duties began.

I carefully chose 3 books from their lists and wrapped them as Christmas gifts for them to receive right before Christmas break. It is only because of your support that this was possible. They opened them with so much anticipation-- not knowing which books I had selected. They went one by one--beaming of happiness for each other's gifts.

This may be the most rewarding of all the projects I've had funded. The students raved of their new books so much that other students came to me after break saying they too got books for Christmas. That is the goal!”

  • Lego Club is Thankful for Teachers This Year!

    Funded Oct 29, 2024

This activity was so fun for students to do in groups and such a joy for teachers to get. Our LEGO club is a group of STEM brained students who choose to come together and build every other Wednesday. So, when I saw that LEGO flowers were becoming so popular I thought "This is the perfect way to show some love".

Students got to choose a box, build one for themselves to keep and one to gift a teacher who made an impact on them this year. The flowers were given to selected teachers and administrators right before Thanksgiving Break with a message that LEGO club is thankful for teachers like them. The feedback from teachers was so nice to hear. They felt heard and seen and will always have a sign of this appreciation on their desks.

I look forward to more ways LEGO club can build to do more than just build. That is the goal of the club. To build upon the foundations of our school.”

  • Book Club Blind Date with a Book, Part 1

    Funded Sep 22, 2024

This project was oh so successful.

Students received a free book that they chose based only on the books' summary, genre and the first 3 pages of the book.

They had 4 choices to choose from all of which have an approved parent rating from Commonsense Media.

The students were so excited to receive a book they get to keep and start a new book full of amazing characters and experiences. The love of reading has spread with more students begging to join our club and read our books.

I look forward to another project with the book club as they have so many books they want to read now that owning a book is a realty for some of them when they have never owned one before.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Campbell

  • Growing the Love for Softball… One Donation at a Time

    Funded Dec 6, 2023

Just one game into the season my student athletes have proved that a little crowdfunding goes a long way. As a program we have only had 1 winning season-- last season when I took over the helm. We had outdated and helmets too big for our girls' heads, poor quality balls... and that's about it.

Yesterday we won our first ever opening day game 19-1... yes you read that right 19-1.

We scored 19 times and most of that is due to the improvements we have made with better equipment aka elite bats.

We had a HR a triple and over 10 more hits.

This project has already made such an impact!

I can't wait to continue to improve and would like to thank you again for all the support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Campbell
