Audio books bring life, depth, and pleasure to a child's reading experience! The students in my classroom come from a diverse socio-economic status/environment. In turn, not all of them are exposed to stories/books at home. Many come from a diverse background with individual needs, and these emergent language learners can benefit from audio stories from various genres. It is imperative across grade levels to have good listening skills; hearing a book read on tape/CD helps children understand how the words on the pages can come alive in a fluid and expressive way! Having a class set of Sony headphones, along with the listening center where students will be able to choose a variety of books, will ensure my students get the most out of listening to books and interacting with their tablet. Thank you advance and I look forward to utilizing our new resources.
