As my students become better readers, now is the time to really work on developing their fluency. Giving students the opportunity to have a listening center will help them to hear what fluent reading sounds like, introduce them to books they might not otherwise read, and learn new vocabulary. Listening to reading helps kids decode words they may not know and teaches critical thinking skills at the same time. By donating to our project you will help increase our reading fluency and enjoy the love of reading. I am asking for individual CD players with headphones and new listening center books. These will be used during our guided reading block, daily. While I am working with students, students have tasks they are completing, listening to reading being one of the activities they are completing. Having individual CD players allows students to listen to stories that interest them.
