    Thank you so much! My class will love these items. We will use this to strengthen their decoding skills and phonemic awareness. Many of my students are struggling due to the pandemic and they need many extra resources to strengthen their reading skills, decoding skills, and writing skills. We are very grateful!”

  • Creating Our Future Leaders Through Reading!

    Thank you so much for funding this project. My students have enjoyed listening to these stories time and time again. There imaginations have taken off. These listening stories have also built their vocabulary and their social skills. They love to talk with each other about the stories. They like to act them out with one another. Having listening stories and books in the classroom library for the them to use has also helped them with print awareness. They are learning how to care for books, how to put away books, how to turn pages, how to hold the books the correct direction and they also pretend they are reading the story. They have learned the words from listening to the story being played for them.

    This classroom project was brought to life by DFW Mystery Friend.
By being able to have a listening library we are creating the love for literature and reading at a critical age. The listening library is teaching these young children how to hold a book, it teaches them the words, letters, pictures, drawings, how to turn a page, and how to follow along reading left to right. My students love stories!! They need headphones to be able to follow along with no distractions from the outside and a few more classic stories to expand their imagination and vocabulary. Many of my students are ELL. The listening library will greatly enhance the English learning experience for them as well as broaden their vocabulary.
