The lives of my Kindergarten to Fifth Grade ESL students can be quite small. With a subscription to TIME For Kids to be read independently or together with supports and guidance about American and International current events, can broaden their 'small' world. To understand and learn about current events, is essential for a 21st century world-wide citizen and graduate of Connecticut's Public Schools. We, as adults, are surrounded by news and current events. We listen, talk, and sometimes even debate upon current events. We have a particular vernacular and knowledge set required to engage in such communication that has been acquired or taught to us. So in providing the subscription to TIME For Kids to my young ESL students, they in turn can start to engage in reading, listening, talking, and sometimes even debating upon current events.
