Poppin Posters!
Help me give my students a large printer to help promote programs in our school!
This is great news! We have been using the free trial and we are just about at the end of the trial! I am thrilled my students wont have to try another program! They have been learning about vector files! Which is very advanced I think for 6th grade! This will allow them to continue practicing and creating!”
So we finally have our laser up and running and have created some wonderful projects. The computer program that goes along with the laser has had a very tough learning curve for the students but you can see the earrings they finally were able to make! We are going to try the lanterns next, but need to be sure of settings before we take on a large project! They do not want to waste big pieces of wood until they understand the settings on the machine first! We are going to try to make a smaller version of the lantern first hopefully then we can make a larger one!”

Where to begin! I have not been able to keep up with all the students who come and ask to make a necklace or bracelet ! The most recent project students made grinch ornaments to help spread our message of kindness! They used the markers to color the wood pieces that was practice for the wooden jewelry they want to try and make now that we are back from break!
I am really impressed witht he creativity they have brought to these projects! They take them home though before I can get a picture! it will be interesting to see how they make wooden earrings and necklaces!”

This was such a great project! We can not wait to get back outside and continue with our Beach and community Clean ups!! The hat making was such a hit! The team made patches and designed the hats incorporating the earth patch! They have been given permission to wear them in school on Green Team Days and they also made one for our principal to include him on our team :)
At first they were not sure about the grabbers but once they realized they did not have to touch the garbage they were a hit! This has made our members feel extra special and I am so proud of them!”

Our student are economically disadvantaged kids who work really hard to overcome the obstacles they face daily. They are bright energetic good spirited kids who want to learn and who want to show off the good things they have been doing in school!The students age from 9-12 and are academically doing very well. Our school's population is over 97% economically disadvantaged, so for these students to be able to use their "own" technology isn't a likely thing to happen. They attend a school where teachers love to use technology as much as possible because we know we are raising 21st century learners and the more comfortable students are with technology and collaborating together the more successful they will be in their academics.
I am also very passionate about teaching my students to embrace our environment! I love thinking outside the box and creating lessons and projects that do not fit the"normal" day to day!
