Culture is such an important part of our school community and dance is expressed in various forms in every culture. My students are excited to learn a new form of dance through Ukrainian dance lessons that will occur as an extracurricular activity. Many of our students live in areas that are not safe for them to be outside and play and this will give them exercise, and allow them to express themselves in a new and exciting way. Participating in this class would allow students to see how another culture expresses themselves and make connections to their own cultural experiences. Students are very excited to participate and know that they can have fun in a safe place every week. Their hard work will result in a choreographed routine that will be performed at the school extravaganza at the end of the year.
