In kindergarten, the majority of our school day takes place with the children on the floor. Whole group lessons, story time, calendar and several other activities happen with my students sitting down on the carpet. Most elementary teachers have rugs with different colored squares on them. These rugs not only brighten up the classroom but also give children a defined space so they know where to sit. Having their own spot helps these little ones know exactly where they should be and encourages them keep their hands and feet in their own area. My class is currently without a rug making it difficult for the students to find a place when I tell them to sit on the floor. We have a mat that we are using right now but it gets dirty very fast and it isn't easy to clean because of the bumpy texture. The mat is made of foam and it is starting to fall apart. These kids are so excited to come to school and learn and I want to make sure I am doing everything I can to provide them with a positive start to their school journey. Having a bright, fun, colorful rug will make our classroom more welcoming and improve classroom management. Thank you for considering our class project to receive your donation. Your support and generosity toward education is greatly appreciated!
