  • Food Pantry

    Funded Oct 8, 2024

Thanks to your generous donations, our food pantry has become a valuable resource for our students. It helps them meet their most basic needs while creating a safe space for growth and learning. The pantry is stocked with snacks, and many students now come by regularly not only to grab a meal but also to relax, study, and recharge.

The pantry has become a sanctuary for our students, a space where they know they're supported and seen. It's not just about food anymore—it's a place where they can gather and feel safe.

As we continue our work, the next steps include expanding this space to offer after-school study groups and activities, helping students decompress and focus on their academics without the weight of outside stressors. We are even working on a project where students take leadership in organizing pantry supplies, honing skills in teamwork and community service.

Thank you for being an essential part of this journey! Your kindness is transforming our students' lives in ways that extend far beyond the classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Lopez

  • Calming Area and Pantry

    Funded Nov 9, 2023

I am thrilled to update you on your generous contributions' incredible impact on our classroom. Thanks to your support, we acquired new resources that have transformed the learning experience for my students. We were able to establish a food pantry alongside our calm area, which students have appreciated.

When the students first saw the materials, their reactions were priceless. Their eyes widened with curiosity, and excitement filled the room. The sheer joy and enthusiasm were palpable, creating an atmosphere of eagerness to explore and discover. Seeing how these resources transformed our classroom into a space where students feel relaxed and welcome was heartening.

With the newfound resources, we plan to research if something similar can be extended within our school community. This aligns with our curriculum and instills a sense of responsibility and environmental consciousness in the students. Your continued support has empowered us to take our lessons beyond the theoretical realm and into meaningful, real-world applications. We are grateful for your commitment to education and look forward to sharing the continued success of our projects with you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Lopez

Pen and paper continue to be powerful tools. However, we are preparing students to be civically minded and engaged citizens. Although our program focuses on math, science, and technology, we remain committed to holistically supporting our students' growth. Through our social studies classes, our students are learning to connect mathematical and scientific skills to the analysis of our society. Well-rounded future doctors, engineers, scientists, and politicians can be more innovative, empathetic, and prepared to address the needs of our society. Access to technology is access to tools needed to change the world. The 11th grade class will conduct Youth Participatory Action Research projects focused on identifying and addressing issues impacting their communities. The laptops will be used to analyze peer reviewed articles, government studies, write their research paper, and create presentations for their culminating symposium that will take place at their school site and a world class research university. Additionally, they will continue to use the laptops to compile stories from community members to complete a textbook that reflects the lived experiences of the people they interact with every day. As the students refine their skills, they will be able to use additional technologies such as coding and geographic information systems to improve the living conditions of people from their community.
