Hands-on learning allows my students the opportunity to drive their own learning, make mistakes and correct errors in a safe learning environment, and engage with learning and critical thinking. Arduino combines both hands on learning and coding, which have been two passions of my fifth graders. These materials are something that my students don't normally have access to at home, and allow students to use their creativity while problem solving. Moreover, these materials will promote student collaboration and communication as they problem solve together. Arduino is also versatile, allowing students to focus on aspects that are interesting to them, which further promotes deep, engaging learning in the classroom. Arduinos would allow students to participate in more student-centered learning, and prepare them for future, real-world jobs and scenarios. Arduino would continue to promote the excitement that my students have surrounding science, engineering, technology, and coding, and allow them to expand their learning and scope of knowledge each day.
