“What mental health needs are more sunlight, more candor, and more unashamed conversation.” - Glenn Close. In my room I plan to do just that and add more sunlight to dim situations. My project is centered around creating a safe space for students to profess their feelings, feel, heal and gain the strength to continue about their school day. For a child in distress will not be able to be receptive to what is being taught. With these products I will be able to ensure my students leave my room feeling good enough to continue throughout the day. I am here to assist in fighting mental health stigmas everyday, and getting my students to understand life behind the school walls is worth living. With all of the issues going on due to the Covid-19 pandemic and all of the youth suffering from their mental health, I am here to help. By enabling students to be strong enough to get throughout their school day I aid them in understanding what is being taught in class, thus promoting them getting the content correlated with the Nevada Academic Content Standards. The games and fidget toys in my project allow for me to get the students to have tangible items in the room while they break down their walls and speak to me. The seating will allow for myself and the students to be comfortable while we talk about some uncomfortable topics. The air purifier allows me to create a clean environment for proper breathing techniques to be practiced. The foot heater and massager allow for me to let students who are stressed become relaxed while we talk to one another in a comfortable setting. The other items help create a more organized environment to better help the students.
