The Whisper Phones will help students hear phonemes more clearly as they learn to read and process language aloud. By channeling voices directly to their ears, student hear what they are reading during guided and independent reading. By whispering instead of reading with a normal speaking voice, students get the benefit of reading aloud without some of the drawbacks. The teacher can hear how well the student is reading and correct mistakes and limit distracting other kids in the group. Whispering may also be less uncomfortable for students who feel anxious about reading out loud. Using the guided and independent reading books along with the Whisper phone will build confidence in my students' reading ability and assist each student in increasing fluency and comprehension.
