Students with autism and some students with behaviors thrive when given countdowns before transitions. We would love to have timers that we can use for our students that will impact the whole class. When a student has a behavior, it can disrupt learning for the student as well as for the other classmates. When teachers use transition timers, as well as transitions objects or fidgets, there is a better chance of having a smooth transition. These timers allow students to see visually how much time they have if they do not understand how a typical timer works. The timer also beeps so they have that extra auditory warning.
