  • Read With Me

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Our classroom is immensely grateful for your generosity of donations to update our book collection. My students are intrigued by the new reading options and I've noticed a re-ignition in their interest to pick up a book.

These books are being used for their literature circles to enhance their comprehension skills, including summarizing, making connections to the real world, identifying important passages, visualization, and new vocabulary. Each student is able to have a copy of the book, allowing them the freedom to read at their own pace and have access to the book as often as needed.

Since my literature circle groups have shown excitement about the new book options, other students have been drawn to read the new books on their own as well. One student, in particular, has voiced his love for the Maze Runner Series, which was made available in our classroom thanks to you, our donors.

Our classroom spends 20 minutes each day during an uninterrupted silent reading session. Each student finds a cozy and comfortable place in the classroom to dive into a good book. With the new book options made available through this project, students have shown eagerness to read because they "can't wait to know what will happen next."

Thank you so very much for making this project come to life!”

  • Creative Minds "Pulleying" Together

    Funded Aug 12, 2020

Thank you again for the wonderful donations to make this project a success. The students loved using the models of simple machines and allowed them to visualize how each one works. Using the models, I was able to demonstrate the functionality and compare to life examples, such as a light switch as a lever.

Students were also able to build their own model items using the materials from this project, such as cars and their own pulley system. Many students commented on how fun it was to learn with the materials because it allowed them a hands-on experience.

When I first opened the box of goods, every student was intrigued and could not wait to get a turn to explore. The pulley model was an all-time favorite!

Thank you so very much for making learning come alive in our little Montessori classroom!”

  • Stay Connected With the New Kind of Book: Chromebook

    Funded Oct 16, 2019

Thank you so much for choosing to donate to this project! My student's faces lit up as they were given Chromebooks to use. Technology is becoming the new world and it is crucial that young people are trained in how to use computers.

They have been extremely helpful in allowing students to effectively complete research projects, type their written stories as needed, and use online programs to aid in math and reading.

These Chromebooks have been a very positive addition to our classroom and we are forever thankful.”

  • Light the Way for Growing Minds

    Funded Aug 14, 2019

We have had our new light table in the classroom for about a month now. When it had arrived, the students were thrilled to see what it was and how to use it. It was like Christmas in the classroom! As students completed their writing, a question that became frequent was "Can I use the light table?" It has been a huge motivator for students to complete their writing processes.

Students have found new ways to use the light table as well! It has been used to write in straight lines, create books, and even comics!

As we learn how to continue to use this resource, students are excited to expand past just writing to use it for social studies, science exploration, and more. This gift has positively impacted our class room in a way I couldn't have imagined. Thank you!”

  • Hands Are for Learning

    Funded Apr 9, 2019

Thank you so much for your donations. Since receiving these materials, my students have enjoyed practicing writing using the sand paper textile cards, create shapes, numbers, and individual designs showcasing creativity using the geoboards and rubber bands, as well as use the manipulative counters in sorting activities, and of course free play time.

When these new materials were introduced to my class, the room was filled with excitement and curiosity. Many of my students had never heard of a geoboard before, which opened up opportunity to learn new vocabulary. The manipulative counters and geoboards are requested daily by students wanting to explore and learn with them.

Moving forward, these materials will continue to be used for sorting activities, fine motor strength, math concepts, and pre-writing skills.”

  • Listen Up Little Ears

    Funded May 14, 2019

Thank you a million times! With your help, my students will now be able to experience reading in a new way! What a great way to expose young children to early literacy, encourage reading, and give them confidence in their skills. We appreciate your generosity and can't wait to use our new materials.”

Students will be able to practice their math skills by using the counters to sort, graph, and count during free choice and small group time. Practicing fine motor skills at a young age leads to strong writing skills and increases their muscle memory. The geoboards, bands, and sandpaper alphabet cards will be used during math and literacy small group time for hands on learning. Hands on learning helps students stay engaged and motivated to learn. These materials will be used in all three of our 4K classrooms and will have a great impact on our 4K programming for years to come.
