  • Building a Culture of Belonging

    Funded May 24, 2023

Our school district has started a process for giving students the opportunity to experience inclusion at all schools and this means that students learn along side their general education peers in classes with same age non disabled peers. This requires a great deal of effort and items to make the spaces inclusive for diverse learners.

Your donation has made this year much easier for organizing items needed in general education classes for students with special needs in their learning. Items like drawers for items, timers, token boards, and laminating sheets has helped to build systems for students to be successful in their classes. Additionally all paras have enough supplies now to serve students no matter the location of where they are learning!

We have increased our inclusion model to serve 90% of special education students in special education. Allowing for non disabled peers to learn about difference in people and learning styles as well as disabled peers to experience peers in a collaborative and authentic way. The items purchased through this project has allowed this to all take place in a non stressful way, transferring mechanism for learning to all spaces of the school. So thank you for contributing to this and for helping to champion a new way of learning through inclusion.

    increase in inclusion”

  • Reading Is the Key to Success

    Funded Mar 1, 2023

I just want to say thank you so much for donating to this project. My students have been making great progress in their reading skills, including learning new words and understanding plurals and -ing endings. They like the predictability of the reading program and know they will be successful with it when I pull out the work for them to participate in for that day.

Having a curriculum for them to access has made it much easier for me to train staff to use with them as well as a time saver for me to not have to make curriculum everyday. The easy execution of teaching with this curriculum makes it perfect for a busy special educator.

Finally, what I also am thankful for is a curriculum that can be used during the intervention block. Now, with this curriculum my students get to participate in intervention block working on reading just like their general education peers. This helps build an inclusive program that allows them to feel as though they are participating in their education in a positive way.”

  • Games For Growth In STEM

    Funded Oct 23, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to this project for my class! It has had a huge impact on my students. They practice either turn taking with games or they practice fine and large motor skills weekly. The students have learned that they can expect to have fun and learn at the same time.

Even some of my most reluctant learners are participating because games are fun! Many of my students started the year with little to no experience in group play and turn taking so these games have turned into opportunities for them to increase their ability to interact with people around them. I have even had a couple students ask for games as one of their free time activities.

    So a huge thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Micheletti

  • Making Literature Accessible

    Funded Aug 14, 2020

Thank you so much for helping my students have accessible literature. We have really enjoyed reading graphic novels as a class together and doing it virtually has been, though challenging at times, fun to use the pictures and speech bubbles to talk about characters and the plot of the story. My students have gotten so comfortable with reading graphic novels they volunteered to read during the holiday break. They are really excited to start on some of the other novels after the break and into next semester.

My students were able to do this fun learning (and trust me it has been a real challenge to find the fun in learning this year), because of you and your generous donation.

    Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Micheletti

  • Roosevelt High School Student Run Copy Center

    Funded Oct 1, 2019

Thanks for donating to this vocational project students got to learn valuable hands on skills for working in an office and food pantry. Now my students can apply the skills they learned to find entry level jobs where they will earn a living wage and find great satisfaction of being a productive citizen.

Many of my students how are working toward finding jobs in office spaces or at our local grocery stores, and they could not have done it with out your support of donating to this project!

So I say again thank you for investing in my students futures!”

    With gratitude,

Our students will exit high school and begin the path of employment with a solid foundation of office skills to better their lives and the lives of others by offering a diversified workforce to the world! Students in my class are eager to learn pre-employment skills, in areas other than the traditional special education cleaning concepts, we would like to teach them office skills of copying, laminating, sorting, and alphabetizing (to name a few). Not only would this be a great skill set for students, it will improve the busy lives of staff at Roosevelt High School also, by providing them a much needed service.
