The pandemic has thrown a lot at our students. Many students in our school have been negatively impacted by the pandemic by either losing family members, parents losing their jobs, or for some students, where they live. One of the changes that has impacted them at school is splitting grade levels between in-door and out-door recess to ensure social distancing. That means two homerooms need to stay inside for recess while the other two homerooms play outside. This is a huge shift for them and many don't know "how to play" inside when it doesn't involve tv, phones, or other electronic devices. This project allows our students the opportunity to practice some of those well needed social skills they lost during remote learning due to the pandemic. This project will allow each homeroom in our school the opportunity to have one bin with a variety of fifteen games. The project also ensures that students interact with each other in a safe manner by keeping a designated bin in each classroom, instead of going from classroom to classroom. The games selected are games that require little time to compete one to two rounds against an opponent within a twenty minute time span. They have begun this new school year with such excitement and passion that I hope this project will keep their spirits up. In the past year and a half, our students have been flexible, resilient, and open to the changes during this school year.
