Some of the resources requested are: highlighters, markers, folders, notebooks, scissors, glue sticks, and fidgets. All these supplies contribute to a year of projects aimed at their development and awareness of the world around them, past, present, and future. Our focus is American History and in class we often participate in hands on activities, these resources will contribute to activities such as time lines, comic strips, and argumentative essays. Often times history is taught using primary and secondary sources which can be challenging for students, especially those with special needs. Being that our students benefit from visuals and hands on activities, these materials will provide multiple outlets for students to demonstrate learning, for example: students can create a visual timeline, allowing for creativity in the classroom. Our students also have to complete two argumentative essays, one titled: "Should America support an open immigration policy or a restricted immigration policy?" To help students analyze these primary and secondary sources needed to support their argument, we will use different colored highlighters to highlight evidence supporting restricted immigration, and an open immigration policy. We also have implemented an interactive notebook in our classroom, this benefits the variety of learning styles in the classroom with student output activities give students the ability to show exactly where they are in their understanding of the subject. These basic materials will make a big change in the classroom, so much time is wasted when students have to share a limited amount of supplies. More importantly, more supplies allows for opportunities for creativity in the classroom, providing access to a variety of learners.
