Kids and technology seem to go hand in hand. When students get presented with a task that involves technology they get excited about using a tool other than just paper and pencils. Unfortunately my students do not all get to experience using technology on a daily basis due to our limited resources. Currently we have 4 iPads and 3 desktops in our classroom. Students usually work in pairs or triads, when working on an assignment, which makes their work space a little crowded. While they are happy and excited to work on whatever device is given to them, I know that an extra iPad would help to ease over-crowding issues. My eager learner's world would light up to use a tool at school to learn that they may not be able to use at home. Students would also get extra screen time and would be able to become more familiar with apps and programs that are needed in the 21st century. We have recently been introduced to applications such as seesaw and flip grid on the iPad. The kids in my classroom have found these applications to be captivating and useful. I find that they help motivate students to become better presenters and speakers. It has helped give them the confidence to share ideas and they are able to provide feedback on their peers assignments. With an extra iPad students will have better access to these apps that are not as easy to use and manipulate on a computer due to the inability to record on our desktops.
