Brain Food For Active Learning 2.0
Funded Feb 8, 2023I want to take this time to personally thank you for your generous donation to purchase snacks for my students during and after school. A very special thanks to Black History Month Partners and my Friends and Family who went above and beyond to make this possible. It is with a gracious heart that I write this note on behalf of every student who has benefitted from the breakfast bars, the fruit snacks, the pop-tarts, the chips, the chocolate milk, the fruit juice and all the other snacks that your donations purchased.
As the school year has progressed, word has gotten out that students receive snack when they come to tutoring, so, I have seen more students participating in my tutoring sessions.
Again, I want to say "thank you from the bottom of our hearts" and will pass on the blessing to as many students as needed.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Simpson

My students are used to me purchasing snack for them, but they were very surprised and grateful to find out that individuals outside of my classroom cared enough about them to see to their needs like I would have. Not only were they surprised by the generosity, but they were overwhelmed by the variety of snacks that were provided. They are so use to the chips and juice that I would purchase, so there were smiles all around when they could choose a variety of snacks.

Funded Dec 4, 2021I would like to thank the many generous individuals who give of their resources to support the hard work that teachers put in everyday to educate young minds. I want to say how much I appreciate the 2 laptop, pencils and the tablet that were donated to my students. For some students, having a laptop is a mere convenience. However, getting laptops for my classroom was a matter of necessity and they are well appreciated.
Before receiving these chrome-books, my students were not able to access any technology in the classroom for differentiated learning. After receiving the new chrome-books, they are now able to infuse technology into completing their assignments, and access videos online to reinforce topics that are taught in individual lessons that they might not have completely understood. The reaction from the students were one of "awe", because they couldn't believe that others cared that much to supply these devices to our classroom. They were very excited to have devices that were very modern and moved at a faster speed than some of the older devices that are in the school. They were also very happy to have devices that were connected directly to the school system without any hassle like some of their personal devices.
Not only are these devices used by my assigned day students, they are also used by students who come after school for tutoring and to complete assignments that they have online. My classroom is now one of the hubs where they come to do so. Had it not been for getting these devices, none of the above would have been possible. As can be seen from the picture attached, the students have been using the devices and will continue to do so for a long time to come.
I cannot say thank you enough on behalf of all those who have benefitted so far, and will continue to do so in the future.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Simpson

Funded Sep 24, 2021I would first like to thank the Donors-Choose Organization for the opportunity that was given to me and hundreds of other teachers here in the USA to request and receive much needed supplies for our classrooms. I would also like to thank the many generous individuals who give of their resources to support the hard work that teachers put in everyday to educate young minds. With this said, I want to say how much I appreciate the 8 laptop chrome-books that were donated to my students. For some students, having a laptop is a mere convenience. However, getting 8 laptops for my classroom was a matter of necessity and they are well appreciated.

Since many of our students in the school do not have devices at home, (the district did not sign out devices to them this school year) they must stay after school to complete those online assignments. Funded Jun 4, 2019The supplies from this project could not have come at a more opportune time. This project was funded and I received my supplies at the beginning 2019 when school started. I was grateful for everything at the time, but little did I know what was forthcoming in the Spring of 2020. Covid 19 came to be, and my students were so grateful that I had all the "hand sanitizer, wipes, tissue, and disinfectant spray that I received. They were very happy to be able to clean their desk each time they entered the classroom and clean and sanitize their hands and supplies with the wipes I had.
The supplies were used sporadically before spring, we would use band-aids and neosporin for minor cuts and bruises, However, when everyone started having coughs and colds, they were more than happy to know I had a clean and sanitized room where they could still learn without fear of being sick. Not only did these supplies benefit my classroom, I was also able to give to other teachers to keep their rooms clean and sanitize.
This new school year 2020 started quite like no other. I am able to teach my new students the lesson that " Learning starts with a Healthy Classroom. The supplies have last into the new school year and we are here in class being "Fearless instead of Careless"”

High Quality Learning Demands High Quality Technology
Funded May 5, 2020I cannot say enough how much I appreciate the desktop computer that was given to me to help with the "New Normal" of distance learning for my students. Before I received the new touchscreen 23 inch desktop, I was using a 14 inch laptop that was not touchscreen. With my old device, I was not able to legible model and demonstrate for my students.
After I received the new desktop and used to zoom conference my students for the first time I got this reaction from my them" Whoa Miss, I can actually see, the screen just like and board in the classroom and I can see the problem you modelled". As can be seen from the picture attached, the larger screen made it possible to get through more problems and my students could actually now be actively participating using the annotation tools from the Zoom conference room. This they could not do on my old device.
One of the major benefits my students gained was that more of them were more willing and able to be proactive, instead of being reactive in class. They would come ready wanting to write on the board and try to demonstrate using the new tools that they had at their disposal. I cannot say thank you enough and how much benefit having the new desktop brought to my classroom.”

Funded Feb 28, 2019Thank you for giving my students APA manuals and a video camera. The manuals made it very easy for them to write and edit their research paper. The camera gave them exposure ahead of time and during the defense of their oral research presentation. Without these items the class would have been difficult. A million thanks from Ms. Simpson and her students.
To the staff at Donors Choose, I would like to thank you for the winning chance that you give to teachers in this country. Education has been positively affected by the reaching impact of your program. Keep providing us with the winning chances that make our students, schools, and communities better.”
