With so many students coming into our library before and after school and with their classes for lessons, it's very challenging to work with a temperamental bar code scanner. This is my second year as a teacher librarian after being an English teacher for 17 years, and I still don't have access to a scanner that works consistently. Although I requested for one last year through my school site, I never received one, so I had to purchase a used one on ebay. The current scanner I use doesn't always work, so I'm forced to enter students' names by hand as well as the bar codes on their books. This, as you can imagine, is very time-consuming when you have a line of students patiently waiting to check out books! If I had a new book scanner, it would make book checkouts so much faster and convenient, not to mention how it would be a tremendous help during inventory at the end of the school year. Our students and I would really appreciate this generous gift. I very much want to serve our students as best as possible. Thank you!
