Imagine you are back at school and your teacher says "Ok kids, line up for recess!" Wasn't that the best time of the day! You get to give your brain a break, get out your wiggles, laugh and socialize with your friends! Now take a minute and imagine you are a student with cerebral palsy who uses a motorized wheelchair. The teacher says, "Ok kids, it's time for recess!" but this time you're not excited. All you get to do for recess is sit outside in your wheelchair because there is no equipment on the playground for you to play on. You wish you could go play just like all of your friends and all you want to do is go back inside. Now let's look at another scenario. Your'e still a child in a wheelchair but today your school put in a wheelchair swing for you! You can't wait to go outside to use it! Your best friend says "Hey! Do you want to go to the swings with me?" and finally you get to tell him "Yes, I do want to go swing!" You finally get to take a break in your long day of working hard and learning! You finally get to feel like you belong and you love being outside. All children deserve a recess at school. Recess allows children to give their brain a break so they feel refreshed to learn again, it builds social skills, and gets them loving the outdoors. I believe the students in my class need that. Will you help me make this possible for them?
