School Supplies for Safe Learning!
Funded Sep 30, 2020My students are really utilizing the supplies that donors choose has given to us. We are currently in our Narrative Writing Unit which requires my students to stay organized and consistent with their writing drafts and final pieces. Currently they are using their writing folders to self edit their writing drafts and stay organized with the writing process. We also are using the social emotional journals as well as the grab game at the end of the day. These really allow for open communication among the class.
My students were so thrilled to get these supplies, during this time it is difficult to stay organized and supply supplies for each of my students. When they saw the materials they were yelling with joy and super grateful!
I always love to incorporate SEL into the day and having the journal and the grab box has been super beneficial to start communication topics and share stories with one another. Missing months of school during Covid has made it really difficult on so many of my students and their lack of contact with peers their age. Having these open discussions about friendship and emotions is a great way to help them get on track and talk more freely with these topics!”

Funded Oct 6, 2019My students are using our new math and literacy centers weekly. Each week we dedicate a day to which is typically on Fridays to do math center rotations and literacy center rotations. For math my students have recently went over addition problem solving questions as well as telling time. They work well together and enjoy participating in the centers during this time. I group my students accordingly, but i find with these centers it is helpful to even group students in peers heterogeneously. We also give all students a chance to work at the centers and explore them. They have been a great addition to our class thus far.
My students were so excited, they were in need of differentiation and change within the classroom and routines. I recently introduced the new literacy centers using past and present tense and my students LOVED them! They were so eager to try it and work together.
We are starting a new writing unit and working on implementing more station and small group teaching within the classroom. Currently, I have 25 students in my class with a wide range of academic levels. In our station teaching we want to introduce a center station, with working on grammar and sentence writing. This will help the flow of our writing lessons go more smoothly and help break up the lesson. We can not thank you enough for the centers and supports you have given to my classroom!”
