For students with disabilities, iPads can be a lifeline to learning by acting as a tool for communication, translation, and adapting learning skills. Tools like iPads provide a way for students to work on the skills they need to thrive and be successful independently in the future. These devices can also reduce frustration, build confidence, and teach life and social skills. The two iPads with cases that I am requesting will provide powerful multisensory approaches to learning for students with disabilities. They are effective for tracking behavior and academic progress. Students who struggle emotionally can take advantage of soothing music and emotional behavior apps for calming. Using an iPad also increases hand/eye coordination, fine motor skills, and problem-solving skills in students with disabilities. A sign language app will also help my student with apraxia who has a hard time verbally communicating. My students with autism will benefit greatly from the visual learning and the multi-sensory approach to academics will assist all of my students with disabilities without causing them to become overwhelmed by different approaches that don't make sense to them.
