  • Healthy, Happy Minds

    Funded Feb 9, 2025

Thank you very much for funding this project. It has made a huge impact on so many students. Now when it is snack time everyone has the ability to have a snack.

It was always hard dropping of my students at recess and seeing a few students, usually the same students, with nothing to eat. I know by recess time I am very hungry so of course my students are probably hungry as well. It felt like there was no solution to the problem. Now we carry out the snack box each recess and anyone can come and get a snack if need be. It feels good I can ensure all my students are fed and ready to learn!”

  • Building Community with Tie-Dye

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Thank you very much for donating to this project. Every year one of my biggest non academic goals is to instill the importance of community within my students. The way in which my classroom is structured promotes community, with table groups, class jobs, etc. It is always important to do fun projects and activities to also promote community. Many times these activities are reserved for the beginning of the year and drop off as the year progresses, but creating these t-shirts after our winter break has been a great way to restart the community culture within our classroom. My students feel very proud and have taken great ownership of their t-shirts and the ability to connect with their peers.”

  • Story Time!

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Thank you so much for donating to this project so I can provide these new e-readers to my students. Today is the first day my students will be taking them home so yesterday I showed everyone how to use the e-readers and they were beyond excited! It was fun to see them getting excited about which books they want to take home, they were most excited for the Spiderman and Avengers sets.

I knew my students would be excited but I am also looking forward to hearing back from their parents about this new opportunity because many of the parents asked me for different resources available for reading when we had our conferences in fall and I did not have much to send home at the time, but now we have so many different sets. I think my students and their families will really enjoy listening to these stories at home together!”

  • ¡ Una Biblioteca Española! a Spanish Library!

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

Thank you so much for contributing to this project. We've only been in school for 35 days and showing my students these new books was one of the happiest moments I have seen them have so far. Yesterday they got to switch out the five books they take home each week. I only let students take one of these books each to make it fair and they were gone so quickly.

Students were excited to see some of their favorite books in Spanish. I had multiple students come tell me how excited they were to have their parents read them these books at home. I feel very excited to continue to add to this collection of books in my classroom. Thank you again for bringing so much joy to my class.”

  • Let's Get Creative!

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Thank you so very much for donating to this project. It has been really fun seeing my students use the materials to create new projects. One of my students loves to make paper robots and these materials have given him the opportunity to create these amazing robots now.

One of my favorite things to do for my students is to put our art materials and see what students create. It's so fun to see what they end up creating. People would be amazed how the students imagination can come alive and these materials really help the students make their ideas come alive!”

  • Cozy Classroom Library

    Funded Oct 1, 2023

Thank you so much for funding this project. I put the rug into our classroom library this morning and they were beyond excited! My students love to get cozy and read books, but it's not the same when you have to sit on the cold linoleum. With the new carpet they will have a comfortable place to sit in our classroom library and enjoy a book by themselves or with a partner.

I love to read and one of my goals each year is to foster a love of reading in my students as well. This new comfy space will hopefully contribute a small portion to their love of reading. Thank you again for giving new life to our formally sad library, now turned cozy library.”

  • Tie Dye For Our Community

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

Thank you very much for providing this opportunity for my students! They were beyond excited to make the t-shirts. They expressed a lot of gratitude for the experience. I know that it helped service the purpose I had originally set out to accomplish, which was building community in the classroom. I saw students helping each other during the rubber band process, sharing the dyes, and complimenting each other on their finished t-shirts. From this point going forward I will be doing this project yearly!”

  • Books to Celebrate Hispanic and Latinx Month!

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

It has been a wonderful experience sharing these books with my students. They show so much excitement each time I have read them a new book from this order. They say things like "I have an abuela too!" or "My mom has a dress like that.", because they can relate to what they are seeing and hearing in these books in particular. It's important for students to see books that are "windows and mirrors" compared to their lives. Books considered "windows" will show characters and experiences different from themselves. Books that are "mirrors" will show characters and experiences that the students can relate to directly. Prior to this order I had many "window" books, but not enough "mirror" books for my students. This order was filled with many "mirror" books, which has been an important and fulfilling experience for my students.”

  • Flexible Seating!

    Funded Mar 26, 2020

Thank you for funding this project. My students absolutely love the new seating options purchased for this project. Not only do they like the new options, but I can see a real difference in some of my students behavior when they use the standing desks. Some of my students like using these desks because it is something new and exciting, but others truly do their best learning out of a chair, standing, with the ability to move.

This project helped give my students the opportunity to learn in the best environment for them.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Scannell

With new desks my students will be able to have more space in the classroom to mover around. There will be room to expand our library and research center, as well as more space to create new areas in the classroom that we do not have room for, such as areas for STEM. Our old desks have been breaking as well. We have a mix matched number of desks in our classroom to fit the number of students, which makes it hard to configure the classroom into groups for collaboration. New desks would create a more cohesive and functional classroom for all of us.
