Happy Harmonies after the Hurricane
Funded Sep 12, 2018Thank you again for all of the wonderful donations. My students and I still can't believe the kindness that has poured in allowing us to replace many needed materials. Thanks to your donations I was finally able to replace the broken and taped up shoulder rests with the new ones that fit the students! It is nice to be able to adjust the shoulder rests so that they fit the students and keep their instruments at the height they should be! PLUS, we don't have to use violin shoulder rests on the violas anymore!!! My students jumped for joy, literally! Also, what a difference it makes to finally be able to change 3 year old strings on our instruments thanks to all of you!
When my students saw the box arrive from the front office they were very excited and stood around the box while I opened it. We have a box of broken and taped shoulder rests that we do not have to use anymore and none of us miss it!!! I couldn't change the strings on the instruments fast enough for them and the sound difference is amazing!
The next project the students and I have talked about working on is getting new instruments. We have a cello from 1959 and while we are grateful to have the cello we sure could use new instruments!! For now we are just grateful to have shoulder rests and strings so thank you donors for you kindness and generosity! We really appreciate everything!”

Funded Oct 19, 2018Thank you very much for all of the thoughtful and wonderful donations. My students have been asking daily if their project has been funded and now I can tell them YES! The students look forward to having the opportunity to practice rest position 1, 2 and playing position as I step up to the podium. I have been pretending to have a podium for three years and I say to the students, “ I’m on the podium and I’m off the podium” while pretending to step up and down so they can get used to it before our concerts and competitions. Now that we will have a podium of our own we can practice with the real thing! Also, the students won’t have to stand up to see me and I won’t have to stand up on a chair or a table! Again, thank you so much for the donations and gift we will use and appreciate for years to come!”
