Headphones for Middle School Science Classroom
Funded Sep 5, 2024Thank you so much for giving my students the tools they need to access the curriculum. Students have been using the new headphones almost daily to translate texts and watch educational videos.
Our English learners greatly appreciate the donation to our classroom! They use the headphones to listen to texts pronounced in English so that they can better understand what they're reading. The students also watch videos with English subtitles and English audio which helps advance their understanding of the language.
All students are grateful for the new headphones and appreciate your donation!”

Basic Laboratory Equipment for 7th Grade Philly Classroom
Funded Nov 28, 2018I want to thank you emphatically for the generous donation you've made to our classroom. My students were excited and inquisitive (my favorite thing to see as a science teacher!) about our new materials. One of the first things we did was unpack all of the boxes and learn about what the equipment is used for in a science lab.
As we move into forces in fluids and heat technology, I know our new equipment will be put to great use. During our first lab using the materials, student engagement soared. Students were excited to finally wear safety goggles and use beakers made of real glass. In this first lab, we were practicing writing testable questions and hypotheses about how many drops of tap water could fit onto a penny vs how many drops of soapy water could fit on the same penny. In this activity, students learned about surface tension and how soap breaks the tension causing less drops to fit onto the penny. They also learned about lab safety and graduated measurement.
Next, we will be using the triple beam mass balances and graduated cylinders to explore density. What is density? How do we measure density? How can we find the density of an irregularly shaped solid object? These are the essential questions we will be answering in our next project.
Again, thank you for the thoughtful donation to our classroom. We can't wait to continue hands on learning in our room!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Nowotnik
