Sensory Tools to Build Success!
Funded Sep 16, 2020Thank you so much for your incredibly generous donation for my classroom project Sensory Tools to build Success. The children will now have their own individual bin of sensory tools when they are upset, frustrated, and need some alone time to calm down and refocus. Thank you again for your support of this project and of children with special needs. It is wonderful to be able to use donors choose to help my students receive materials that they desperately need.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Feng

Funded Aug 5, 2019Thank you so much for your kind donation which helped my students get the calming area. I have created a calming area with the bean bag I received with your donations. Students can choose from the many sensory tools, which is a wonderful addition from your donations, to calm themselves. Once a student commented, "looking at the glitter swirl in the wand is very calming for me. By the time it settles, I feel good and ready to go back to my classroom." It made me realize that my decision was good.
"Yayyyy Mrs. Anna, you have a bean bag for us!" This was the reaction the bean bag received. "Did Donors Choose help you get the bean bag?", another student asked. When they saw the option of a glitter wand, they were delighted, and that these are bouncing balls just added to their happiness.
Thank you so much for donating to this wonderful addition to my classroom! You have contributed to a cause that is truly life-changing for many of my students, as it is helping them learn self-soothing and communication skills that are essential to their well being.”

Funded Sep 18, 2018Thank you so much for your donations. Because of your kindness, my students who struggle to concentrate in class have had greatly improved both in academics and behavior. One particular student who uses the Wobble chair has been able to make incredible gains.
My students were incredibly excited when the materials first arrived. They each wanted time on the wobble chairs, which I allowed by doing rotations throughout the week. The other materials, such as the cushions, give my students choice in where to sit. Many of them will choose to get a cushion and sit at the front of the room right by my board. They did this completely voluntarily. This allows for them to focus and for closer proximity to me. Typically, it's the students who need it most.
My students will continue to have choice in seating in my classroom. As an adult, I often struggle to pay attention in meetings and trainings when I feel uncomfortable. You will typically find me standing in the back or getting a seat away from others so I can have the room I need to concentrate. If adults struggle with this, we must assume students do, as well. They deserve the opportunity to feel comfortable while they learn.”

Ms. Feng
