  • Stem Library, Encouraging Readers

    Funded Nov 20, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations! The STEM books, sofa futon, and pillows have made a wonderful impact on our classroom.

The STEM books have sparked curiosity and excitement in my students. We completed a hands-on engineering project where students are designing and building a theme park based on their favorite book, movie or game using principles they've learned from the books. The new futon and pillows have our reading corner into a cozy, inviting space where students can immerse themselves in learning.

The students were excited! They immediately gravitated toward the books, flipping through pages and sharing interesting facts with each other. The pillows was an instant hit, they couldn't wait to sit down, get comfortable, and start reading.

As we continue our STEM exploration, students will be using what they've learned to create their own invention prototypes. They will research, design, and present their ideas, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The reading nook will continue to be a valuable space for students to develop their literacy and love for learning.

Thank you for making such a meaningful difference in our classroom. Your generosity is shaping bright futures!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McIntosh

  • STEM Library

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

Students are enjoying learning more about STEM through text. Students are assigned book reports and are given an interactive choice board to choose tasks such as cereal box report, video commercial, podcasts, character text messages, picture book creation, code story elements, friendly letter to a friend and to the author, create a timeline retelling important events, book cover project, puppet green screen retelling comic summaries and book trailers.

Their first book report students created cereal box reports and the second book report students will be writing friendly letters to the author.

Students are given time in class to sign their books out and in. Students are encouraged to come up during their lunch to eat and read if they choose.

All students enjoy reading these books they look forward to the check out process and the opportunity to look through books before deciding. Students take the initiative to ask to check out a book even when there is no time allotted. Their interest in reading so far has changed and I want to thank you for your assistance in making this possible.”

The ability to have a printer in our classroom was a tremendous help. Students are motivated to complete their assignments because now they know it can be printed and they can submit for bulletin boards. Student were very happy to know we got a class printer and can print their work for any of their classes. Students were able to print their science fair projects reports and other writing projects. Our printer was able to assist other students in other grades print their assignments as well. Thank you for your donation from the sixth grade class!”

  • Cozy Corner

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

Thank you for your donation that allowed our students to have a cozy little corner to work. They were very excited and happy to be able to work at the cozy corner, whether independently or in their groups. The students have been more excited to work in general and continue to work hard to get their turn at the cozy corner. Many students ask to work on bean bags as soon as they enter the classroom. Students shared they wish they had the option in every classroom. Thank you from the 6th graders!”

  • Student Engineers

    Funded Oct 13, 2022

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to understand the engineering design process through building with Legos. Many of our students have never had Legos in their homes and were so excited to have the opportunity to just to have them. Many of our students have not played with Legos since they were babies as they share. It was a great learning experience to give another perspective on how to use Legos using the engineering design process.

While many of their sketches were in their books I was able to get one attached that was not. Students created many things with the Legos, robots, cities, cars, solar cars and many other cool things with creative names.

    From the Students: THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,
