Blocks are often said to be the most used and most useful equipment in an early childhood classroom. Blocks provide open-ended materials and allow children to think problem-solve as they utilize them. Having materials like hollow/magnetic block and vehicles develop social emotional skills and strengthen spacial awareness. Blocks also foster language and literacy, math and writing. Using the hollow blocks also help to build skills students need today like: persistence, creativity, problem solving, communication and collaboration. From building skyscraper and trains, to cars and road signs, blocks help children’s brains to grow as they manipulate the open ended toys and “think” outside the box.
