I would like to express my gratitude for your generous donations to help me and my students. With your help, I was able to set up a color printer in my home during Remote teaching. Your donations also funded color ink, paper and chart paper that allowed me to be able to keep my teaching lessons colorful, engaging and fun. This past year of learning has been so tough for so many students. The Pandemic kept students home from school, which created many difficult situations. With your help through this project, I was able to continue to do my job as their teacher just as if I was in the school building. I was able to maintain a "constant" in my student's lives as their teacher, who was online everyday with fun lessons for them to continue learning from. People like you are one of the many reasons that I felt supported this past year. So, thank you again, from the bottom of my heart!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. M.
This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose 20th Anniversary Fund and 2 other donors.
I would like to send a huge, heartfelt thank you for your generous donations for this project. Your donations allowed my students be able to have hard copies of books on their level in their homes. With at home learning, this past year of school was so difficult for so many of them. We all know there is nothing like holding a real book in your hands and many students do not like to read on the computer. I was able to mail each student an engaging, colored book that was right at their reading level to their homes. I received so many happy "thank-you's", smiles and virtual hugs from my students because of these books. Their parents were also so happy to be able to have books to read with their child. It means so much to have people like you supporting kids, teachers and parents in tough times. Thank you again so very much!!!”
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity during this very difficult year of remote teaching and learning. Both teachers and students alike have had to really dig deep to keep our momentum going when it seemed difficult. It was certainly the most challenging year of my teaching career, for sure!
Many of the resources that I purchased from online resources helped me to digitize lessons that kept my students engaged all year long! That was no easy task!
They participated in remote learning lessons through the use of digitized lessons that were fun to complete. I was able to differentiate these remote teaching lessons so that I could meet the needs of my special education students.
In order for my kids to achieve reading success and comprehend what they are reading, they must be able to do it quickly and automatically. Phonics facilitates that process. With lots of practice sounding out words, in combination with other important reading skills such as phonemic awareness, letter recognition, and concepts of print, they learn to read more fluently.
My students need literacy manipulatives, phonics activities, and word working materials so that they can learn while having fun! These activities will make an impact on all my students because they will help them start the beginning stages of reading. They will utilize the word formation sand trays, sand, draw & write touch board and tactile letters to use a kinesthetic approach to writing their spelling words and learn new spelling patterns that are on their current level. As students develop their phonics skills they will be able to work with the blend and digraph learning centers to continue to develop their understanding of the English language.
These materials will not only promote learning, but also their independence in developing skills at their own pace. Students will be able to self check their sight words with the Dolch sight word tearpads and use clues to check answers, allowing them to feel pride in their work and become responsible for their learning. With his donation, my students will be ensured best practices for reading instruction and will be well on their way to reading success! These pieces are so important because they will build my students' phonics skills and boost their self-esteem.
The possibilities of creating a love for reading are endless and with your help it will be possible. Thank you for considering our phonics project!
