  • Learning Through Play

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

Thank you so much for your generosity. Our students loved the air-dry clay and the wacky links. We had a fun time creating 3d objects from our 2d drawings/planning. The class had wonderful ideas as they played and experimented with the materials as they brainstormed.

In one class we used the wacky links to make a free-standing 3d object. Students spend so much time drawing that bringing them to life in a 3d form was a challenge, so we spent time exploring the different ways we can make objects stand on their own. The excitement in their voices are a pleasure to hear as they figure out their own way when facing this challenge.

In other classes, we used the air-dry clay to decorate skulls as seen in images for the Day of the Dead. Classes that finished early had time to make mini-pumpkins/jack-o-lanterns. Students were eager to continue working with the clay and create new projects of their own. Please look through the images for some of our students' work.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Das

  • 3D Printing a Career Path

    Funded Oct 24, 2019

My students absolutely love the Glowforge laser printer. It has provided new ways to make, display, and share art with the school as well as families. Having this machine has created a change in the dynamics and arrangement in the classroom for the better. When I explained what this machine will be used for, students were surprised and excited of this new way of bringing life to their ideas.

In the photos you will see how one of my student, from the 5th grade, is going from an idea to art product. She was the first to jump at the opportunity to use this laser printer and came to me with a proposal. She wanted to gift her mother something that represents different generations going through school and her appreciation of her mother's support.

We are very grateful to all the donors for creating a new experience in an art classroom.”

    With gratitude,

  • Art Through the Printing Press

    Funded May 14, 2019

Thanks to all all of your generous donations my students will finally be able to go about their art making from a new direction. They will be able to experience the process that many professional artists go through to make and sell art through printmaking. Thank you all so much.”

    With gratitude,

Students have explored most traditional visual art mediums, but printmaking is not something that is readily available to use. Even with makeshift materials and tools, students do not get an enriched learning experience, just a vague idea of what printmaking is or could be used for in art. With the printing press students will have a better understanding for what printmaking is good for and how can they best utilize it in their art making. Students will have a higher success rate in making a solid print of their artwork if they are able to understand how to use a printing press. This will open up more doors in what they can create and how they can share them.
