Math Exploration in the Big Apple!
Funded Oct 23, 2018Words cannot express the sincere gratitude that I have thanks to the generous donations received for this project. The trip was a huge success!!! This was my first class trip, and the students enjoyed the opportunity to have a trip that focused on math.
Once we arrived at the museum, the students went straight to work in an engaging workshop on probability. It was amazing to see their interest peaked all by the game of Bingo. Things got pretty competitive between the students as they soon started to get that "a-ha" moment once they saw the connection to what was being explored.
After the workshop, they got to explore the location and interacted with many of the hands-on exhibits. Thus, making the learning more tangible and personal. We look forward to revisiting probability with our class once we get to that unit of study. This trip will serve as a launching point in our instructions because we will ask them to think back to this moment.
I am forever grateful for being given the opportunity to provide class 702 and 704 with this opportunity thanks to the donors that made it possible.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Karen Laurent
