This is my third year working as an ENL teacher. I provide services to English language learners that reside in a community that it is consider to be below the poverty level. The majority of my students are either learning a second or third language. Most of my students are from different parts of Africa and Middle East, and small percentage of Hispanics. Teaching English to students whose language is complex and it is composed of symbols and characters can be challenging, especially without the right materials or tools. The majority of students do not have access of technology at home. My students need motivation to learn a new language and assimilate to a new culture, which most of time can be frighten to an eight-year-old child. With the appropriate technology, I know my English language learners will be enthusiastic to learn how to speak, read, listen, and write in English. We need an all In-One- Printer so we can print colorful photographs and illustrations that students can take home and practice; my students need to see things for what they truly represent in our natural world; not black and white. We also need three iPads so that they can enjoy learning and acquire the English language. The iPads will encourage and help students to quickly access information, use Google translation and make vocabulary connection through photographs.
