Having and running a coffee cart business, 'Brewing to Success", will help my students develop personal life skills and job skills that they can transfer to future competitive employment positions. These supplies will be used to teach students how to make coffee and run the business using real hands-on materials. While working as a group, my students will continue to develop communication and teamwork skills. While interacting with teachers in the building, these skills will also be practiced as well as developing money skills while collecting cash and making change. Having flexible seating in a special education classroom is imperative for a conducive and productive environment. My students have multiple disabilities and allowing them to have the option to move around in the classroom will encourage them to be more engaged in their learning. I have requested two bean bag chairs and a rug because they are effective and appropriate for group activities as well as for activities that require quiet, solitary work. I'll l be creating a space in my classroom where students will be able to take a break when needed and they can utilize these bean bag chairs. I have also requested two exercise balls (also known as stability balls and yoga balls). These exercise balls helps students with multiple disabilities and offer students a range of motion while allowing them to stay seated and engaged. I am requesting a variety of seating options for my special education students. My hope is that by changing the physical space and seating of my classroom that it will directly lead to a change on student behavior and make learning more effective.
