These materials allow our students to learn and explore by using their senses. Because our students are mostly non verbal, some visually impaired, and some diagnosed with impairments that make it difficult for them to learn in a typical manner, these sensory related learning materials make an enormous difference in them being able to grasp their learning concepts of basic math, reading, and science, etc. For example, the textured blocks allow them to make choices by touch, the large printed shape bean bags and the alphabet learning materials make it easier for them to hold the shapes/letters/numbers for the purpose of identifying them during our Circle Time and while implementing their IEP goals. We chose several sensory related toys and items with sounds and lights for the purpose of visual and hearing stimulation as most of them have sensory disorders. Many of our current toys are outdated, worn out, or cannot be adapted to fit the current needs of our students. Therefore, the new items would be a great asset in our classroom learning environment, as well as the fact that most of my students are with me for 4 to 5 years and will get all of the benefits of having the new learning materials to enjoy! Thank you so much for your consideration of making a donation to our classroom and helping us meet the individual needs and goals of our special needs students through your generous gift of new learning materials!
