Because we have so many students that each have their own unique needs and abilities it requires learning materials that are made to accommodate these individual needs. We will use these resources to create folder games, task boxes, work centers and much more which will help to support their individual education plan goals. They will also be used to create visual schedules to help the students work towards independence. By laminating and using cardstock the activities, folders, and schedules are very durable allowing them to be used over and over since many of our students need repetition to work towards retention. We also have some students that bite or throw their work when frustrated. Laminating the items prevents quick destruction of the materials created. Some of these will be used in independent work stations and some will be used during teacher led instruction. The clothespins are used in the task boxes for the students to clip the correct answers. This also helps them with their fine motor skills. All of our students require a calculator to perform math equations. Having enough for each student during math class will maximize the efficiency of the time available for instruction. Some of our students work on computers throughout the day to access lessons. All require sound. By having headphones these students will be able to really understand the lesson and get the most out of the program. We have many students that require visuals. By using a large timer and one that changes colors this will allow them to work without the frustration of the unknown of how much longer. The ultimate goal is to give them materials that will improve their overall quality of education.
