Funded Sep 18, 2024Thank you so much for your kind donation. My students really appreciated having a snack during club meetings, tutoring sessions and at times simply when they were hungry. Your kindness has created positive change throughout our school community. The transformation has been remarkable. Our teaching staff has observed a significant improvement in student engagement during after school activities. One of the most unexpected and wonderful outcomes has been the sense of community. Your contribution has touched our community and we are deeply grateful.”

Funded Jan 8, 2024First of all, I would like to apologize for the late response in thanking you all for your considerate donations. My students were overwhelmed with joy when they learned that the snacks provided to them were donated from the kindness of strangers who genuinely cared for their well-being. Many of our students rely on the food given to them during the day. It may even be their only meal of the day. Having snacks available to them means a great deal. The GSA club, after school tutoring, athletes heading out to practice or a game, teachers who need a pick me up because they're staying late, all appreciated having snacks available to them. I'm so grateful that I can be that person at our school who anyone can come to for a bit of nourishment, smiles, laughter, hugs and pause to just say hello and thank you for the snack.”

Funded Sep 1, 2023Thank you for the kind donation. The snacks provided are shared with the GSA club and other students who request a snack throughout the day. My students are so appreciative of your kindness.
When students are made aware that snacks are available to them, and that they were provided based on generous contributions, they are stunned. My students are teenagers, but when the snacks come out, they're kids at heart. I have created another project in the hopes that more snacks can be provided to my students for the remainder of the school year.”

Hey Miss B, Do You Have Any Snacks?
Funded Feb 8, 2023I sincerely thank you for your support. My students and students in the GSA club truly appreciate your kindness. The snacks were indeed well-received. Our students having access to snacks throughout they day has helped with motivating them to stay focused during class, enhances their energy level as they head out to their extracurricular activity, and just simply brings them joy. They appreciate when the care for them is noticeable and authentic. The access to snacks builds the teacher student relationship as well as relationships among students.
The snack supply we have now is low, as I wait for more donors to show interest in the current project "A HodgePodge of Snacks and Supplies".
Hopefully this current project will get funded and I will be able to start the upcoming school year with fresh snacks and supplies. If you able to help support the current project or spread the word, I would appreciate it.Thanks again for your kindness.”

Funded Nov 28, 2022The resources you so generously funded supports my students and members of the GSA club in ways you couldn't image. Having access to a snack or two during the day, helps them stay focused in class and sustains their hunger until their next meal. They are surprised to learn that kind people like you have supported this project. You are setting an example of genuine kindness and showing my students that giving to those in need is what we should all be doing in life.
When the boxes arrived, they were so excited. Many have expressed their thanks to you and are truly grateful. I do my best to stretch out the snacks so they can last awhile as we get closer to the end of the school year. Thank you so much for donation.”

We Need Supplies, Oh my!
Funded Oct 26, 2022My students and I are truly grateful for your kind donations. The Gender and Sexuality Alliance club decided to use the supplies for the Respect for All Week project where we enlisted the entire school in expressing their thoughts about bullying prevention and acceptance. We created a #stopbullying wall and posted student responses for all to see. Each student wrote encouraging words and supported our community efforts to raise awareness.
Members of GSA are continuously brainstorming solutions to build community within the club and throughout our school.
We appreciate you!”

Funded Sep 29, 2022Thank you so much for your kind donations. The GSA club looks forward to having access to snacks during our meetings and throughout today. A student approached me today requesting a snack because she hadn't eaten all day and wanted to make sure she had the energy to focus on her exam. For the next coming weeks, students are staying after school to participate in the Regents exam boot camp to further build their literacy skills. By the end of the day, students are exhausted, and staying focused to continue learning particular skills can be challenging for many of them. Having snacks available for them has supported increasing their attention spans, as well as their energy levels. We are truly appreciative of your support.”

Funded Jun 8, 2022Creating a safe space for LGBTQ+ students and allies in schools is so important and meaningful on so many levels. The kids love being in the club, but I noticed when we are together, they choose to sit in separate groups instead of mingling together as a whole. I decided to create the Building Friendships in GSA project because I wanted students to get to know each other better, and to explore their identity through a creative project. I decided to order tote bags and fabric markers so they could decorate and keep them as a tangible memory of their experience in the club.
When the materials arrived, they were so excited! They immediately grabbed their tote bag and markers, found their spot in the classroom and went to work. The energy level in the classroom was perfect. They were sharing ideas and complimenting designs as they were being created. Some were still seated in their chosen groups, but the communication between them was nice to witness.
As for next steps, I hope to create more collaborative projects like this that allow for students in GSA to continue to get to know each other better, and explore their identity in creative ways.”

Ms. Butler
