  • Digital Photography: In the Classroom or at Home!

    Funded Aug 17, 2020

I can not fully express my thanks for your support of my students and our growing department. We started this program last year and are already servicing over 210 students a year, and I don’t see it slowing down anytime soon. I can’t wait to share their amazing work this quarter as they learn from home! Thank you again for helping us provide them with everything they need to succeed. We all need a little more art and expression in our lives right now, you have been instrumental in providing both for 210 awesome kids! We promise to pay it forward!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Miller

  • Bringing Art Home for Gar-Field!

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

I can not fully express how grateful we are. These supplies will greatly impact our ability to share art with our students and help them grow creatively. Gar-Field’s Art Department appreciates your generosity and support. I can’t wait to share with you all the incredible projects they create!”

    With gratitude,

  • Can't Create Cameraless!

    Funded Oct 18, 2018

I can not express how thankful we are for your generosity and kindness to our program. Your gift has enabled the students to grow exponentially in their art and added to the classroom's ability to take photos of much higher quality for our yearbook. We have enjoyed learning about the cameras, the rules of photography, and being able to document the happenings at Gar-Field with more dynamic images. We have been able to photograph sports events, plays, and pep rallies with clear images and quick editing turn around.

We have purchased a green screen and are currently learning the ins and outs of digital processing and we are working on getting comfortable with the video capabilities of the cameras. We will keep you updated!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Miller

These incredible students unfortunately, are paired with less than adequate equipment. We are currently working with 7-15 year old cameras, many of which are essentially non-operational. All result in blurry images and make photographing sporting events and other action packed happenings practically impossible. This deficit of quality equipment does not only effect this year's publication, but all future publications. Your donation will allow us to document the unique memories at GHS for years to come, and help train the next generation of journalists, graphic designers, and photographers. Our school's, and yearbook's budget is tight, and every expenditure directly effects the cost of the yearbook to students. The cost is already a luxury to a great deal of students and families with many of my students working jobs to help. So the cost of these two cameras would directly effect the ability of many students to obtain yearbooks for years to come. For that reason my class is reaching out for help. We are asking for funding for two DSLR cameras with lens kits, which would allow my students access to quality images, and make our yearbook into the unique, inclusive, quality publication it can be. It will allow my students the opportunity to learn the basics of camera manipulation and let us capture the memories of the students, sports, clubs, and activities that make GHS such an incredible school. Please help support these amazing students become the best journalists, photographers, and graphic designers they can be! Be a part of securing these memories for generations to come for all of the 2,300 students at GHS!
