My kindergarten and first grade students with Autism are visual and tactile learners. Having manipulatives helps them focus, sequence events, and retell stories. In my class we have a few of these sets already and I find that the students are much more engaged and excited about reading when I have manipulatives for them to hold, move and touch. I find that once we read the stories a few times as a class, the kids start asking to use the storytelling kits at recess and instead of playing are retelling stories and reading together. It’s awesome! Any help funding these kits would be greatly appreciated!
