Teach the Speech!

Since receiving these wonderful new items, my students have found ways to express themselves and utilize language in different ways. The students are now motivated to utilize their language to access various speech and language apps on the iPad as well as interact with each other during group speech sessions. The play dough and KNEX have allowed students that enjoy building and creating to bring their creativity into their speech therapy sessions which in turn has allowed them to demonstrate progress toward their IEP goals. Additionally, these students often look at these new activities and items/objects as rewards which helps to increase motivation.

As a Speech Language Pathologist working with students with varying degrees of special needs, it has brought tears to my eyes to watch the students come to their speech sessions so excited because of the new activities they can participate in during their sessions. I am forever grateful for all of the generosity from the donors and will continue to explain to my students that it is because of amazing and generous people in the world that we have these games and activities.
