There is nothing better than stepping into a good book and letting your imagination run wild. My students will love reading these STEAM pictures books to help get them excited about creating and collaborating with classmates. The book I Wanna New Room is so relatable to kids, especially those with siblings. It shows students that no idea is too crazy and all ideas deserve a second thought. Students can apply the ideas from this book in areas of math through measurement and areas of science through the actual design process. Pushing students to make their dreams come true through reading and creating is a way to make kids life long learners. Another picture book I love from this list is, After the Fall- How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again. This book is a perfect example of growth mindset and not only drives home STEAM thinking but character education as well. Students are taken back to the beloved nursery rhyme of Humpty Dumpty, but this time they see a different Humpty. They learn that he must overcome his fear of heights. This book teaches students to challenge themselves when it comes to fears they have and that in the end, with a little work, they may be successful in their ventures.
