One Elevator Ride, Sixty Seconds to Decide Your Fate
Funded Dec 5, 2021Thank you so much for supporting our project. We can not wait for our students to read "Long Way Down." We hope to see them connect to the poetry novel in a new and creative way. Now they need to decide if Will should get revenge or not when he hits the bottom floor.”

Lies Versus Truth
Funded Aug 10, 2021Thank you so much for donating to our Lies VS Truth project. The students are really enjoying reading the book and have been making some great predictions/connections and have had some wonderful and sometimes heated class discussions. They have put on their investigative hats and are trying to solve the mystery of who killed Simone chapter by chapter. Each twist and turn has made them reflect on their thinking and re-evaluate their initial impressions of each character. It has been great seeing the students come alive toward reading in such a dynamic way.”

Funded Jul 28, 2020This year has been a year of change, we started in person then went remote within a month and all of my students have adapted pretty well to this, though we have had our challenges we are all working hard to learn remotely. Not only has this year been a year of first this has also been a year of societal changes. We have had a lot of racial issues as well as political issues happen within our country. My students have not been unfazed by this. We talk nearly daily about the current events in America and how they are effecting us. Though we have not started our unit using The Hate You Give, we have spoken about it several times and about racial tensions in our country. We have been reading articles about current events both in America and the world and making connections to our home town. As we move on to our unit using The Hate You Give, I hope to continue to have these discussions and help my student navigate the society we live in. Your donation to my book drive has helped me be able to supply each student in my class with a copy of this book so that instead of reading it on the computer we can read it together while holding it, and for me this has a greater impact and I hope it does the same for my students.”
