One week into distance learning and it has become clear to me that my students need support in various ways. Some simple, tangible ways are implementing routines and structures with the right materials and supplies. As my students move from synchronous instruction to asynchronous class time multiple times throughout the school day, they need the practice of writing in an assignment book the assignments and independent work they are expected to complete on their own. They also need to learn to manage their time through the use of both a clock and a timer, so that know when to log back on for whole class time, or small group times. Students will also benefit from having earbud headphones to help them focus in on the Zoom meeting even when different noises are happening in their homes.
